That has no relation to consoles.

Those numbers are nice, but their just "sales" I doubt #1 is selling only 3,000 books/day in december.

Basically what they say is, if your book is the #1 in sales. it's #1. If it's #500... it's #500 in sales.

Since there is no number of units sold/day. There is no way to know how much better #1 is selling than #20. #20 could actually have 50 sales/day less, with 5000 sales/day.

Not saying that is the case for the consoles, but it's just sales rank.

As a guess, you would probably see a similar difference between the daily rankings on amazon and the weekly/monthy rankings you see published ...

Looking at the month chart for North America we have:

EDIT: Took out chart because it broke the page

And Weekly sales from Japan:

EDIT: Took out chart because it broke the page

On Amazon (being that it has such a short sample period) I think it would be more important to have a decent ranking over a long time (say #10 or #20 for a full month) than a high ranking for a short period of time (#1 for a day) but we don't have any data to back it up

EDIT: ioi should put a scrolling div around people's posts if they break the width of the fixed with page ...
