The PS3 came out of the gate pretty strong, and it is likely that a large portion of the population who bought a PS3 decided to buy a few Blu-Ray movies to try out. Now, most of the people who bought a PS3 are primarily gamers and are unlikley to continue to buy a large quantity of movies for any period of time. Now, if the PS3 was selling better new owners would be buying a ton of movies to take advantage of their "Brand New Blu-Ray player" and the drop in sales of Blu-Ray movies wouldn't be that noticeable.
Meanwhile HD-DVD is selling heavily to movie collectors and is seeing a constant steady growth.
