For me, it's not even close. MGS wins big time.
1. MGS (fresh, interesting gameplay, some pretty kick ass bosses, a story that didn't make me want to scream... mostly)
2. MGS4 (the controls put it over the top, too bad they weren't used in MGS2 when they would have been innovative)
3. MGS3 (better story than 4 but the controls ruined it for me)
