Ubuntu has all of that stuff in the repositories anyway, and prompts you to install Flash/codecs/restricted drivers when you open a file that would need them. I'll take a look when they do Jaunty.

1) Depends on whether he already has a copy or not.
2) That's a lie.
3) Which says nothing to say if he likes the XP interface or not. It's possible for those of us not so narrowminded to like both.
4) If you know XP has the required features, there's no reason not to make it your first option.
