But what makes LBP so interesting is that it deliberately blurs the line between casual/non-casual gaming. You'll have the option of creating your very own custom levels, sure, but the game will ship with tons and tons of prefabricated levels and designs, plus the option to download even more stuff online (both commercial and fan-made).
So it's as casual and carefree -- or as hardcore and intricate as you want it to be. I'm sure that's why it's taking so long to build - Sony is doing lots of play-testing and play-leveling to see what works and what doesn't, to create decent interfaces, etc.
