No, I agree that some of his moves are unfortunate and nefarious. In that thread, I said his 2007 referendum was essentially a ploy to establish himself as a de facto dictator. He wanted the power to declare an indefinite state of emergency without the possibility of judicial review...yeah, that is quite worrisome. Also, the decision not to renew RCTV's radio license in 2007 was unfortunate. Nonetheless, he accepted the defeat of the referendum relatively gracefully. That highlights, in my opinion, the enigmatic nature of Chavez.
