If the xbox sold what it did last gen with it's library, there no way the 360 would be dead with the ps3's current library. It doesn't make any sense

Its all in the name... No Xbox at the beginning of the generation could sell for $600.

 

How many consoles did they sell for $600? The price dropped not even a year into it's lifespan. In the same vein, many would have bought a 360 for $700 if it launched with halo 3. Money isn't a limiting factor for everyone and even when it is limiting, everyone has a different limit.

If it were all name alone, sony won't be last place now considering their past marketshare.

 

A "playstation" is more desirable than an 'Xbox'. All else remaining equal or close to equal people will generally pick a 'playstation' console over an 'Xbox' console even if they are both valued the same in terms of what it gives the person.

Its not about price, its about desirability. People buy what they desire and price is only a factor which influences this.
