Sony, Sega, and Nintendo have earned my respect, as a gamer. They have molded the industry into its current form, and frankly they've done a fantastic job. MS's heart has never seemed into pushing gaming forward... they are more into.. I dunno.. taking over I guess. , so I have trouble giving them props for the XBox and X360 -- they just seem like invaders to me. They buy up great dev houses and then sell them off or dispose of them, rather than supporting them in reaching new heights. MS steals thunder, rather than making rain.
Sony, Sega, and Nintendo have all created, molded, and empowered gaming, and it shows in their history (although Sega is just a shadow of what it once was). MS is just a diamond-studded wrecking ball.
