Hmm I think your wrong and i'll explain why.

Well Nintendo has successful “hardcore” IP’s and therefore doesn’t see the need to create more. Even if they wanted to it is hard these days but when they do come up with something good they will do it. They do not want to create something new just for the sake of doing something new.

That is an incredibly backwards reason to not invent , both invention and innovation are neccasery for the progression of the gaming industry and for Nintendo to maintain/attain marketshare . Without the invention of the "Wii XXX" there would have been no suitable platform for Nintendo to demonstrate the abilities of the Wii mote , they've innovated with the Wii XXX franchise they created to give you Wii SPorts, Play , Resort etc , I think the sucess of their newest invention Wii XXX series negated the need for Nintendo to bring about anything very different.

Now for other companies it is a different thing. Most of them do not have the ability to reinvent their IP’s and make them feel new again. Tell me how many companies have succeeded in doing what Nintendo does to keep their games selling even after many sequels (or whatever you want to call it)?

The argument that they don't have the ability to make their IP's "feel new again" is an incredibly subjective one and i'm guessing your basing that on sales performance , your argument is really "not alot of 3rd parties are capable of making franchises that sell well for the long term" that's a better argument but one that's still open to criticism , I could list at least 5 franchises that still sell well without googling it.

This is mostly why you see new games created, because they cant keep all their games alive and therefore need new IP’s to stay afloat.

Well yeah , but even Nintendo isn't the same company now as it was 10 years algo . Invention has still played a major role in the innovation of the Mario series , 3D technology in Mario 64 , Anologue Stick , Motion Controls in SMG . No series could survive without innovation inspired by invention , if Nintnendo had to innovate their franchises using only existing technology for the next 50 years they'd be filling for bankrupcy long before the 50 year period expired... I guarantee that. And it's not because of anything particular to Nintendo but that's how all business operates.

Well they are inventing and innovating just not in new forms of hardcore games (at least nothing now we know of). They are using that on the Wii xxx stuff and reinvent their old franchises. Now I am not saying they are doing so with all their games. And as I said they will create new hardcore games when they see something that has potential

Yeah I am basing it on sales.

Absolutely that is why they continue to innovate in hardware so they can do the same with games. Yes that I know :)
