I think that's kind of a flawed line of reasoning. It's like saying "You don't like materia so you don't have to use it in FF7." It's kind of true, but I'm guessing that's setting up a lot of problems down the line. The fact that every WoW player I know spends most of their time raiding kind of indicates that's an important part of the game for equipment and the like. It may not be a strict requirement but rather an unspoken one and I'd like to avoid something like that.
And yes, I will always dislike things that hurt my friends.
