Oh boy I was right, you are one of those that think Zelda are adventure games! Dude, just go check the definition of the Adventure genre on Wikipedia or anywhere else. Those who think games like Zelda are adventure games are people who come strictly from the console side. Most people do know that Adventure games refer to Grim Fandango, Sam & Max, etc...

And see, you dislike MMORPGs out of ignorance. MMORPGs can have just as much story and meaningful gameplay as Single-player RPG. See Lord of the Rings Online, which has an amazing backstory and takes great use of the LOTR license. And EVE Online, great stories there and the game embodies the true potential of MMOs with meaningful mechanics that makes no player useless.

Oh I'm sorry.  I'm used to thinking of the Adventure genre is practically originating from games like The Legend of Zelda and King's Quest.  I'm sure you know better and are qualified to tell myself and the entire gaming industry that we're all wrong though.  Puh-leese.

I dislike MMOs because I dislike the fact that they lack the elements I enjoy the most and play up the elements I dislike the most.  Thanks for the recommendation of LotR Online but I'm not a fan of LotR.

Not that this happens often, but MMOs aren't a grindfests necessarily. Until you hit the level cap in WoW you really don't do much grinding at all and, especially in WOTLK, the questing can get extremely fun and interesting. There are just so many memorable storyline quests in there.

I watched WoW destroy the social life of a good friend of mine.  All I ever see the people who I do know playing it doing is raiding...

But you don't like raiding so you won't raid right? There are hundreds of quests. Sorry, well over 3000 quests in the game with all the expansion, over 1.5k in just vanila WoW for Alliance only, there's also a lot of Horde quests. Yes some are simple and fed-ex, but there are a whole bunch of epic ones. So your only excuse for bashing WoW is that it's so damn good that it ruins the lives of people with pathetic willpower? You are really getting desperate here.

As for Zelda being an RPG, please.... there's no skills to advance there's nothing you do to your character at all, you are just following a set storyline with set quests, a story. It is an adventure game through and through.

I'm really rooting for the Wii this gen because I really want MS and Sony how retarded they were for scratching and trashing the only features that made consoles worthwhile over the PC. I want my damn bug-free, glitch-free, drop-in-tray-and-play games dammit.

Edit:

@Barozi

I doubt anything will come close to the quality of SC2 and Total War, and Sims has been selling millions so I don't know how you can argue the quality of that title.

in zelda games, levels are not all based on numbers, you health increases by getting more heart containers, you get more abilities and skills by getting items, and you get stronger attacks through other means, on top of better weapons, different armors, etc etc. it's very much a RPG.

Nice attampt, but all of those you get by advancing through the story line. Like in adventure games, you get a key to open a new door. The combat is also disturbingly weak in Zelda for it to be called an Action RPG, for its own sake don't ever classify it as such because then it is a miserable and utter failure.

it's not an attempt, it's a fact, that's how all JRPGs work in general, just with a twist. maybe you are more acustomed to WRPGs so you can't see that.
