Not sure about Yuri being unemotional. . . his emotions seem like his primary motivator throughout the game, don't they? He just doesn't wear them on his sleeve as much as the characters around him, who are mostly less mature... I like how Yuri leads by inspiring confidence in his comrades, but doesn't want to actually lead and so gives the job to others he feels are more pure and better suited for the job.
I agree that Vesperia is great game. It does an incredible job of creating a classic-feeling RPG world but at the same time making the world and the characters feel surprising and fresh (despite character designs which could have felt really cliched with different writing/voice acting). It's my favorite RPG this generation, though I haven't bought or played Valkyria Chronicles yet (high hopes for that one). It was a major bonus for me that the multiplayer was improved from the past Tales games (the camera and collision detection were finally fixed in combat) and I got to play through the whole thing with my girlfriend.
