Considering PS3 has been frozen at the same sales price for 15 months it is not surprising the PS3 sales numbers are lower than last year's sales figures.
PS3 is reaching market saturation at the $399 price tag. The bad state of world economic affairs is swaying people to buy a X360 or Wii instead of PS3. People buy cheaper consoles if it offers more or less the same thing - gaming console.
High priced luxury items like PS3 are being bought by less people. Game consoles have an elastic demand and sales are driven by price. Lower price usually generates more demand and more sales.
A PS3 console price cut is long over due. A $50 price cut could improve PS3 console sales much more than exclusive game launches on PS3.
