Even if they start on equal footing with regards to gear and weapons, master chief will still come off on top, he is just too powerful and too expirience.
A more fair fight would be dropping Kratos and Masterchief without weapons in a pit and see who climbs out.

But kratos needs the blades of chaos to even stand a chance againt MC.
Kratos - blades of chaos = Getting banged by barbarians
Kratos + blades of chaos = killing gods

Na, perhaps in the beginning of GoW he was, but by the end of GoW2 he was pretty much a demi-god that could bench press the Colossus. It takes an INSANE amount of strength to even wield the Blade of the Gods afterall.
