The one crash happened because
-- too many systems (there were at least 5-6 prominent console-type systems vying for shelf space in 1983, plus at least 1-2 minor systems)
-- too many companies producing shovelware who were not developers (software done not only by movie studos, but by cereal companies and dog food companies as well)
-- the growth in the home computer industry and the sudden affordability of them placing many of them near the same price point as consoles (plus there were different standards still competing for the market place -- not just Apple II and IBM PC but Vic-20, C-64, Atari 8bit, TI-99/4A, etc.)
None of those are true now. Now if sales go down significantly because of the global economic situation, we have something else that could cause a crash. But we have not seen any evidence for this.

I am Mario.I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble. Wii Friend Code: 1624 6601 1126 1492 NNID: Mike_INTV |
