Ok, so I'm not a big 'Jason' guy, I think the series resembles Final Fantasy too much and is becoming watered down and old. However, I got to see the new Friday the 13th movie on Monday at a pre-screening, and I have to say I was pretty impressed. It's made by the same person who did the 2003 version of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and it's pretty similar but quite a bit better I think.
First off, it's funny. I laughed quite a few times throughout the movie, so it kept it from being one of those lackluster horror movies that try to simply keep people hooked through suspense. It also wasn't quite as bloody and gory as TCM, which is kind of a personal preference. Some like more, some like less. It didn't shy away from details and blood, it just wasn't over-stated like I think Texas Chainsaw Massacre was. The story was decent, but there were a few head-scratcher moments where you're like, "If that shit really happened, I'd have knocked that dude clean out!" (obviously not referring to Jason..).
All in all, I can't really say much without giving some of the story away, but if you're remotely into horror movies and are looking for something to enjoy, you should really check it out. I was pleasantly surprised, as I only went because my girlfriend wanted to and I really didn't expect much except for more cliche horror and dull dialogue.

In terms of score, I haven't really been too big into horror movies until I got with my girlfriend who is, so I don't think I can accurately score it compared to other horror movies. However, in terms of how much I enjoyed it, I'd give it a solid 8/10, give or take a couple tenths.
