They shouldn't be taken lightly, of course, but they can still be negotiated with. Progress with Israel will probably help progress with Iran, as will progress in Iraq. But as Iraq moves forward, Israel is probably going to take a step back. A small one if Livni comes out on top, a larger one if Netanyahu does.

Yeah, the Netanyahu thing will cause a big problem.

To me it seems inevitable he'll come out on top since it seems like the Nationalist party is much more in line with the Likud.

He doesn't seem like another Ariel Sharon willing to suddenly say "Screw you" to his party.  In fact he seems the opposite.
