See, this is what I'm talking about - namely people whose first experience with FF was 7. The limit break was a development of what was present in FF6 but its name escapes me now. But come on now, "summons were awesome to watch" is why the battle system was good? You mean a drawn out mini-cutscene made tha crappy materia system better? Same thing for the camera - how the hell does that make the gameplay better? I mean, this stuff may distract you from the real problems, but it doesn't make it a good battle system. |
the camera zoomed in and out, it was a first for technology
Yes limits were present in f6, but not like they were in ff 7, and it changed the way limites were used from then on out. Limits were awsome to watch, and that does make the combat system better, the materia leveling was fantastic, and great way to make money.]
The combat system itself was great, the active bar or whatever it was called was great, and while you state that the combat system is like pressing attack etc, it looked fantastic, which in my mind made it great.
Just like shooters, it might have basic gameplay, but if it looks great (killzone 2 hype) then people will enjoy it
BTW my first FF was 9, then 8, then 7, and 7 was my favorite. I think i even played 10 before i went to 7, cant remember, but you cant tell me its just cause its my first.
With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B
