Not to mention that FF7 has aged horribly |
I disagree. The game was never really that good to begin with. The age of the game has allowed the hype to fade and the game to be judged on its own merits. |
Well, I didn't actually say the game was great in the first place I think a lot of the reason why FF7 is regarded so highly is because it was many peoples first experience with an RPG, not to mention it had pretty cutscenes and the death of the main character. Other than that, its combat system was horrible. And any RPG where you can make each character identicle in stats has some fundamental problems. Oh, and every man looks like a chick plus tifa is such obvious fan service that its disgusting. @Leo, just shut up about how great FF7 is until you actually play the game. The only reason you think its so cool is because of Kindom Hearts, but I assure you that KH is better than FF7. Seriously, you can get it for around $10 without that much trouble, and it will give you a reason to actually use your PS3. |
Ive played the game, and the combat system was fantastic, i still see it better then any ff to follow it. It was a first time camera movement, limit breaks were fantastic, and summons were awsome to watch. The battle system was fantastic, and this is someone whos played through it 4 times |
What you described are the combat animations. The combat system is your standard "press Attack menu button, kill stuff, gain exp" crap. I can name at least a dozen jRPGs that did combat better than FF7 in just the PSX generation.
"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."
