ROI is a measure of return from a specific investment. The question is, who spent their money better? The question asks of Sony and Microsoft, not the gamer. Assuming each company spent $50 million on said products, the question is this:
Which will will probably gain the highest ROI (return on investment) from their expenditure?
I don't think the DLC, in my opinion, will net that much return (or profit) since they had to lay out $25 million for each of the two episodes.
Killzone 2 will certainly generate a lot of revenue, but will it make a significant profit? I would highly doubt that KZ2 will "only" cost $50 million to develop, market and distribute. Halo 3 was right there once the blitz of marketing was all said and done... I assume KZ2 was a significantly larger undertaking that Halo 3 was in terms of development. The question is, does Sony go all out on the marketing?
In the end, unless KZ2 flops (it won't), the ROI will probably be much larger when all the dust settles.
We won't know for a while, though...
