I dont mean to defend anyone here. I think SpartanFX what KylieDog is saying is that the controls themselves would probably be fine. It's the lag (which is about 3 times higher than games like Halo 3, Bioshock etc) that makes the experience jolt.

I'll be honest the whole time I played it, (as you can read in my OP) it just didnt feel right and made it seem like 'did I just hit that guy?'. I think thats what he means by bad design. Next to other FPS games it just feels well floaty is the best word.

It's still a good enjoyable game. Just unfortunately not one that hardcore FPS players will play that much online. This lag problem will surface more online than anywhere else.

- "lag 3 times higher than Halo 3": False according to indipendent measurement in Gamasutra, apparently.

The relevant measure is: Halo 3 lags 8-10/60th of a second.

The video that i saw that tried to prove the terrible lag in KZ2 measured 4-5 frames with a 30fps camera ie 8-10/60th of a second.

Add to that the fact that in gamasutra they adjusted -2/60th to take into account their plasma tv lag, whereas the same was not done in the homemade KZ2 measurement, thus I suppose the adjusted result is:

KZ2 lag: 6-8/60th < Halo 3 lag: 8-10/60th

Maybe the lag "feels" worse for someone in KZ2 because of the whole "weighty" feel, but as far as I know objective measurements tell a different story.

- "it feels floaty/ didn't feel right": Subjective but of course important.

Even players who loved the game admitted that it took them some time to adjust to the feel of the game. Since in the end you're the only judge of what makes the game fun to you or what breaks it, this is subjective but extremely important. I'm sure this game won't cut it for some players that really can't stand the way it feels.

- "not for hardcore players /This lag problem will surface more online than anywhere else": False according to beta testers.

Thousands of people (mainly what you would define hardcore players, I guess) played the beta for quite a while and the response was overwhelmingly positive. Actually I can't remember reading a single comment on the lines of the controls breaking the game for them. The vast majority seemed to rate the experience higher than the best (usually COD4 is taken as reference).

What is true is that again the subjective feel of the game might turn off _some_ hardcore players. Thats ok, because it is a different game. It is not a game tailored for Starcraft hardcore players, nor apparently for hardcore Halo or COD4 players that can't stand a different feeling in their shooter.
