Bad, but it's effect is way overblown in the media, basically zero sum in most cases.
So more of a bad morally then bad for any reason.
Perferably a system of payment would work to where it would be a nonfactor since someone who buys something should be able to do whatever they want with their software, however since we don't work in that system... you've got to not pirate stuff.
