Killzone 2 Debuts On National News!!!

Dutch glory in cyberspace. At the end of this month, Dutch computer game developer Guerilla, will release "the" game which gamers worldwide are looking forward to: Killzone 2. Its one of the biggest multimedia projects ever and has been developed in the herengracht in Amsterdam.

All this violence comes from out of this house by a canal in Amsterdam. For 4 years, 140 people have worked in here at Killzone 2. With a budget which many Hollywood actors can only dream of. And the comparison with Hollywood doesn't stop there.

Just like in movies, about every single little detail has been thought through.

Dev: We have here a test level, in where our game object responds in realistic manner. So I shoot on this, it falls over, I shoot again and this tanks starts sizzling, turns around and bursts into fire.

The game industry is a goldmine, that bring in more and more.

Viktor Wijnen: If you compare it with the book industry, movie industry, dvd profit, music industry, then you see the game industry has already surpassed all that.

Since 2003 profit has more than doubled till around 550 million Euros a year. The expectation is, that in the upcoming 4 years this profit will rise up till around 700 million Euros.

Viktor Wijnen: The 80s has showed that games can be extremely recession-proof. Plus 2008 was a massive year for games, concerning profit as revealed by for example Microsoft. Besides, games is a stay-at-home product and during recession people stay more at home.

Killzone 2 will be released in nearly 100 countries. The game has to make sure that more PlayStation consoles are being sold.

Hermen Hulst (director Guerilla): the title is very important to the PlayStation 3 and its up to us to show what the PlayStation 3 is capable of what other, competitive platforms can't do. Its up to the consumer if we succeeded in doing that.

She may already test the game, others need to have some patience. At the end of February, you can buy Killzone 2 in the stores.
