Well a few months back I posted a thread about Killzone and where the helghast and overall mood and them came from. No one really payed attention to it, however with Killzone looming around the corner and everyone talking there heads off I thought now would be a good time to bring it up again and spread it about.
Many people would claim that they got it from the 1999 anime Jin-Roh. That is only half correct. Jin-Roh is only a small movie in a Huge saga of books, radio broadcasts, movies, and mangas known as the Kerberos Saga which dates back as far as 1987. In this Universe there is an alternate history where germany actually won the war. As the story takes place in Japan, you can't help but notice how everything is different then what you would expect. All technology is german based, from there guns to the cars being driven which are all german models. Anyway as you can expect it is gloomy as hell, and everyone is repressed. Lots of riots go on over a the Panzer cops, which are what the Helghast are based after.
I really wouldn't want to spoil anything for those who are interested, but if you're a lover of Killzone(personally i liked the first one a lot) or just want some info on the world that started it all then check out the Movies. 2 of them are Live action and one happens to be my favorite movie of all time, The Red Spectacles (1987). The other is Stray Dog (1991) and the Third being Jin-Roh (1999). Well one is my favorite movie, I can't say I would recomend them. They're not for everybody, and I would catergorize them as a Mind-Fuck. Jin-roh is the easiest to understand, so if anything watch that one, however the true story of the series lies on the other two. Remember there are books and manga as well, but they're hard to track down. Also the radio drama is not translated.
