Why would Sony want to waste money on marketing games?

cause if they don't advertise the hype is gonna getr turned into hate, it is true that every game that gets annonced gets hyped inmensly and some of them whihc are mediocre are defended by fanboys when they get a average to low review and yes i'm looking at killzone 2 right now.
