Hmmm.. My dad was 'hardcore' back in the day, i owns a Donkey Kong Game and Watch, his favourite games are probably Mario Kart, any F1 game, Galaga and Space Invaders and now Wii Sports..
My Mum doesn't like video games but I've given her a push with Wii/DS in recent years and she purchased her first game at the end of 08, Boogie Superstar.. She also like Singstar, Mario Kart Wii and Wii Sports - She won't try Wii Fit as she's scared everyone will be able to find out her weight :P
