I think that these questions could be asked of all three console vendors. And I think that if any or any of the consoles/portables are not successful by the end of this gen or the next, NextGen they will have to evaluate their business models going forward.

Also, the wildcard in the console wars is the continuing evolution of PCs... If you could buy a low cost, simple to use, PC that would allow you to use it to play games, connect to any screen in the house, surf the net, do your office work, provide all your multi-media entertainment, manage your home, and have multiple users then what would the value of a console device be? PC vendors like Dell and HP have clearly stated they don't see consoles living past the next, next generation. They obviously have something in mind to fill that gap. And with Microsoft "hedging" a lot of their gaming bets on the PC with software and integration, I think that they are in with PC vendors together.
