My friend has a 1080i TV. i was hearing people having problems with this. What excatly is the problem? i have a TV that supports all HD res so im not to sure as i never ran into this problem.

The problem is that the PS3 doesn't have a scaler chip in it at all, so if you have an older HDTV that only supports 1080i (and not 720p), then you'll be playing a lot of games in 480p.  This is still a problem for all PS3 games that only support 720p as the PS3 cannot scale the resolution.

A few games natively render in either 720p or 1080i, and a some games offer 1080i support where they render in a strange resolution such as 960x1080 and then stretch that to 1920x1080 using pixel ratios.  That's a very poor man's scaling, though, so it will look a little jagged.
