I think this is not necessarily the case. Look at No More Heroes, clearly a core title and it was obviously enough of a success to warrent a sequel. I think lots of 3rd party titles that don't have established fan bases(or are direct sequels) already fail on all 3 systems....people like to just pick on the Wii more.
The only teeth strong enough to eat other teeth.
