Firstly the review is correct on all counts. Specifically due to one unalterable fact he is providing a service to his audience. That audience being comprised of core and hardcore gamers. A audience that holds its games to a higher standard of quality not a lower one.

What we have here is a port of a seven year old game. That is being sold at a retail price with less then a bare minimum of updating, and without any control innovation. There is no other word for that other the insulting. The consumer is being fleeced, and that is worthy of the tongue lashing it received. Sure Nintendo and others release old games without any improvement, but here is the problem with the Virtual Console debate. Firstly those games are not being advertised as new. Secondly those games are not being sold at a retail price.

I ask how can anybody defend this level of quality for the price. The answer is it is not defensible. For that price you should expect updated graphics, updated world design, a good control scheme, and much greater content. That is not unreasonable. This price point is unreasonable. Speaking to the question can good games become bad. Yes they can even without the price analysis. Concepts can and will become dated, and other reviews reflect this even for the Virtual console. The games that once got top marks do not necessarily get top marks anymore. The market shockingly enough does mature. They expect more from a game over time.

That is just the way gaming works. I applaud this review, and I deride those that are bitching. Have some self worth. Do not just take what is handed to you. Have some expectation of quality. Would you accept a drink served to you in a shit lined boot? Now if you answer no to that then do not accept this game. Do not defend this game. This reviewer has reviewed a lot of games that have received a three on their scale. That are miles beyond this game. In that they were both originally developed, and reasonably playable and fun. To have this game anywhere near those is an insult of the highest order.

I could say that you relied only on cheap rethoric to validate your points, that you made a mistake (on purpose) about the game being full price, that you didn`t play any version of the game (making your comments about control, visual and features misinformed). I could say that you don`t speak for or represent any kind of gaming elite, quite the opposite you defend crappy games (Turok, Infinite Undiscovery, Too Human, Fable 2, Halo 3) as long as they are Xbox 360 or HD exclusive. I could even post a link to this thread: http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=16617&page=5

and call you a hypocrite, because you only support a view or a line of though as long as it is convenient to your agenda (trolling, viral marketing, communism, I really don`t know). But that would never work. You would just ignore me and reply to the aplauses of the uneducated fanboys mass that love your posts (they have no idea of what you are talking about they just love to see you troll the "Wiitards").

I would say I am actually shocked by all his bitching, and moaning about the game. I have come to expect the ranting about unoriginality, or more to the point repetitive game play. Honestly Fable 2 should actually be his definition of a good game. A game that follows almost no conventions, and actually gives the player the option to go off on some deluded tear.

His gripes actually come across more as stretches then actual consternation. The problem is he obsesses about trivial character customization options that are not actually relevant, but are merely fun little diversions. Which is actually more like bonus material then main line content. The main story is short, but that does not necessarily mean the side quests are not worth doing either. In fact most of the side quests are entertaining in their own right not necessarily tedious fetch quests, or even more tedious kill ten of these creatures quests.

I found the review to be well written, but sadly misinformed had he really given the game a chance he might have actually found the underlying depth. Sexual bigamy, bending, homosexuality, necrophilia, prostitution, and banging a stranger in a distraught villagers house, as they scream at you to get out, as they chase you through the streets with a pistol in hand. That is all before you get to the pregnancy angle, and the sexually transmitted diseases.

All his problems with the game could be summed up as being due to a lack of creativity. Ditch the damn dog, go anorexic, do not get married, and level as you want. Which despite what he says is actually pretty even handed. He says magic, and I say use the damned pistol. A lot of bitching about shit nobody forced him do anyway.

Ah, how you waste your talents on these forums. You could be a hell of a Congressmen, part of the comunist intelligentsia, a journalist writing about Global Warming or Microsoft PR. I used to disrespect you and ... well,  I still do, but I can recognize your talent for deceiving, lying and brainwashing. I know you are not dumb, you don`t believe in half of the crap you usually type. You usually support paradoxical views, you tend to spin things to a ridiculous level.

Instead I will ask you a favor. I want you to write one big ass essay about how Microsoft did us all a favor releasing HALO 2 vista. I would like to see you change all the following bullshit into positive aspects that improved the game experience.

1) It was a port released 3 years later than the console version at full price.

2) You had to buy Vista to play it and the requiriments were much higher than high end PC games like Quake 4, Farcry or Doom 3.

3) The game looked much worse than PC FPS released even before the time console version launched

4) To play with a joystick and use features like auto aim you had to buy the Xbox controller (40-50 bucks)

5) To play online (like any other PC game) you had to get a Live gold account (another 35-50 bucks)

I wanna see how you do it, so that when I come across that kind of people in real life I know the deceiving tatics beforehand. It would be nice if you somehow blamed the Rygar low quality on Nintendo rather then Tecmo (considering they are xbox centric).
