Being part of a series does not necessarily make something bad. Look at Resident Evil 4 - so long as the series continues to grow and push the limits and reinvent itself as necessary, it doesn't need to go down hill. Consider Tekken. Tekken 4 was garbage and there's no doubt in my mind at all that Tekken 5 and DR are vastly superior.

About Streetfighter... I loved Streetfighter 3. However, to the best of my knowledge the teams behind SF have either disbanded or have had many members leave Capcom, so the experience that's been built up throughout the series lifetime has been lost.

There's also the none to important problem of trying to live up to the hype. SF is revered in fighting game circles and rightfully so, it established many of the mechanics, standards and moves that have become widespread and often central ot the genre. As with games newer additions to games like Zelda and Mario, a new SF would have to live up to this. Just look at some of the bitterness amongst Zelda fans about TP. People actually criticised that game for being not as good as OoT - a complaint that seems a little harsh when you consider OoT is statistically the greatest game of all time. A new SF would face exactly this problem and even if it was a good game, if it failed to live up to expectations the backlash would be enormous.

But do I want them to make another one? I'd like them to try and I'd like them to succeed in living up to the legend. Do I think that's possible? Almost certainly not - but I'd like them to prove me wrong.
