In Killzone 2? *throws flame suit on*. lol Okay maybe not but it really is amazingly close.

No, it's not. Read what I posted above. Graphically, it comes somewhat close, but the power required to go from what it is at now to the E3 trailer is immense. I am not just talking about graphics either, the level of interaction is pretty immense as well.

I have to admit, Guerilla Games pushed Killzone 2 further than I thought they would. Although they didn't reach the E3 2005 trailer, I think the game looks pretty good. Since from a technical standpoint, the current generation of consoles aren't capable of that, when do you think we will see those graphics, environments, and interactions? Personally, I don't know if the launch titles for the next generation of consoles will be capable to extract the required power out of those consoles. All of the animations and interactions in the video were flawless. The only way that could be achieved is if every single character in the game has their animations dynamically generated and with emotion aware voice synthesising.

Here are some 720P shots for those of you that forgot how amazing it looks.

Notice: If you think that we are even remotely close to a game similar to that shown in E3 2005, please go back and look at the 720P trailer. Nearly everything in the video was flawless. Although graphically it may look close, the power required to go from what we have now to what they showed is immense. The better something looks, the more and more power you need to make it look even a tiny bit better. It isn't a linear scale. In fact, the most impressive thing about the E3 2005 trailer wasn't the graphics, it was the animations. We are still very very far away from that.

You should know better than to try and instigate a technical conversation here. The ones who aren't fanboys are also clueless as far as game graphics go. What an average person sees and what someone trained in this field sees are two different things.

My guess is that unless Sony and Microsoft take a big leap next generation, we will not see it until the mid-end of the 8th generation. We will reach the graphics sooner, just not the level of interaction.

I knew I made the right decision when I suggested that you join VGChartz! Discussions may not be as good as in the Beyond3D technology board, but they are entertaining!

I don't see first generation cames matching it, but I think second generation games may be able to. Naughty Dog is already doing a lot with dynamic generations, Epic is working on procedural synthesized textures, Intel is really pumping up the physics, and there is a studio (forgot the name) that is really pushing emotions in AI that change the behavior of in-game characters

Good news Everyone!

I've invented a device which makes you read this in your head, in my voice!
