 $ spent on hardware...

Wii - $465 mill
PS3 - $580 mill probably (600/500 mix)
Xbox 360 - $380 probably (400/300 mix)

Wii is making money while PS3 is losing money, and the price per unit is very different...

Anyway, PS1 and PS2 had slow starts but the competition was not nearly as strong.

 First off, the 360 has a huge lead. Even is the PS3 outsells the 360 by 300k WW per month it would still take two years to even catch them... And Wii has a 3 million lead and is outselling them 2-1 or better.

 I think a 4 month comparison WW (counting from when the system lauched in each region) will give a better idea.

PS3 did ok in Europe first week then had a huge drop, and if they drop again week 3,4,5... While the Wii is upping production, Sony is in trouble (well they already are).

The best Sony can hope for is to ONLY lose 50% of their market share (which is huge). At worst they will probably be fighting over 45% with MS (Wii with 55%).

And Sony only has a short while to act, if it isn't too late already. They got the highest price and are losing money so they cant drop as easily. But if they dont every 3rd party game on the PS3 will also be on the 360...

And the Wii gets more and more support every day.
