My old 8400GS will go into this desktop im currently using and given to my sister. |
I'm doing something similar. I'm giving my kids this computer (they don't know it yet, hehe). It's no slouch itself. C2D E6600, GA-P945-DS3, ATi X1950XTX, 4 GB DDR2 667. Dual boots Windows Vista and Ubuntu 8.10 on a 74 GB WD Raptor.
I'll say one thing...they shouldn't have any trouble doing their homework on it.
| Words Of Wisdom said: Two questions I suppose... 1) Do you really need the extra HDD space right now? Are your current ones too small that you really need the extra for storage? 2) It's a matter of taste, but that case seems really ugly to me. What do you like about it? |
1. Yes. Between my video and music collection, games and archiving, the space will come in handy. Besides, 1 TB for $100 is damn nice. I considered an SSD but $100 barely gets you 64 GB.
2. Those fans will do well to move a lot of air quietly. Instead of adding a half dozen smaler, louder fans, these two alone will keep things cool and quiet. Of course I'll toss another 120 mm on the back.
