@vagabond:

You can't just group games up like that just because they're the same genre. Blaming the Wii when MadWorld "flops" is silly, but it's going to happen. It's almost like the system is attracting all the niche, critically acclaimed games that also flopped on the PS2, which only further pushes this illusion of core games not selling on the Wii.

You put too much faith in the Wii core gamer. The PS2 gamers didn't pick up Okami, even though a similar high profile adventure game (Zelda) made 4 million without too much trouble. Remember God Hand? The game didn't pull numbers anywhere close to DMC's.

I know comparing Okami with Zelda might sound silly, but it sounds like you're doing the same with MadWorld and DMC. To be fair, I don't think Bayonetta is going to sell as much as you think it will, either. I love Clover/Platinum Games, but they're just too over the top for most people...

In order for these core games to really grab attention, it's going to have to pull amazing numbers. Conduit doing over 2mil, MadWorld 1mil within the year. Yeah, that probably isn't going to happen, unless Sega advertises the hell out of them, and both games turn out to be amazing - like, 90+ metacritic (possible with MadWorld, not so for The Conduit).

I predict it'll sell about 60% of the above numbers, which is fine for The Conduit devs (not sure about MadWorld). It probably isn't fine for this whole "core game push" movement, unfortunately. With the exception of Japan and a few western games here and there, I don't see the Wii situation changing too much.
