Yes in that she can be picked up and carried off, but she's nowhere near as annoying as Ashley (LLLEEEEOOOONNNN HEEEEELLLPPPPPP!!!!!!!!). Not only that, you can't hurt her so you're free to whack away.
You can't advance without Yorda so you'll have to hold her hand, quite literaly, to get through the game. Since she's vunurable and can't protect herself, a strong attachment is born that makes the story of the game (and the ending) so good.
