UGO's review - 8.5:

They knocked it because of a "generic SP", and gave it an 8.5 despite what they described to be "quite possibly the best multiplayer shooter [they've] ever played."

It's the only review under 9 on GR thus far, and MC doesn't seem to be counting it.  It's still a nice review, especially the part about multiplayer.

Some snippits:

In the end Killzone 2‘s campaign just feels generic and for what’s supposed to be one of Sony’s flagship titles, I definitely expected more. This is really a shame, considering the majority of the people that pick up Killzone 2 will never touch its real strong suit, the multiplayer.

Killzone 2 is quite possibly the best multiplayer shooter I’ve ever played, definitely on par with Halo 3, Call of Duty 4 and Gears of War. Thanks to its unique mission-based rounds, fantastic stat tracking, persistent unlockables and overall fun-ness, Killzone 2 is definitely going to be played by PS3 owners for years to come.

On top of all that, there’s an intricate clan system, tournament system and a website dedicated to tracking it all. No shooter has provided this level of community features and there’s little question that this sort of support will ensure a strong following, at least until Killzone 3 comes out.

Killzone 2 is a tale of two cities. There’s the campaign, which is a fine but forgettable jaunt through a series of FPS clichés. And then there’s the multiplayer, which is a slick, addictive experience that’s not to be missed. In the end it just depends on what you’re looking for.
