BTW, even with little hype, the US release is just under 109,000 copies, and it actually outsold Warhawk and Lair, which both had a lot more hype.

Of course the larger userbase of the 360 helped, but this is good news so far for RPGs on the 360.

I don't think you can say that it outsold Warhawk unless you ignore the fact that it is a downloadabe game...and beating Lair isn't much of an accomplishment. It sold about as I expected considering the 360's demographic. I am curious to see how this affects Microsoft's marketing strategy since the JRPG's haven't sold as well as expected in Japan and are not pulling stellar numbers in the U.S. either.

I would like to see Eternal Sonata and Lost Odyssey do better because those look like even better games. Lost Odyssey makes me want a 360.

Well if Sony gives some download numbers, then we can know.

As for Lair, demographic or not, the game has been heavily hyped, and there have been much larger PS3 game openings.

The point is that a week this good, even without little hype, shows that JRPGs can sell well on the 360 over here, which is likely to encourage even more support for it.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
