small country + large population (in relation to landmass) = fast internet.
Australia on the other hand has a huge landmass and a population of only 21 million making investment into faster pipes both costly and less profitable then in other countries. I have a 10mbps connection btw. Which is perfectly fine but I'm not looking forward to playing Koreans in starcraft 2.
