99% of the predictions Patcher makes end up wrong and a long way off the mark. The Same guy expected PS3 to dominate this console generation and have a market share of over 40%, he also said Wii would only get around 10% market share.
April PS3 price is highly unlikely. Price cut in slow sales months is a bad business move. The earliest price cut would be September after PS3 console revisions have been made and lower production costs for PS3 consoles. I expect a November 2009 price cut but more likely only $50, instead of $100 price cut. Sony is bleeding money at the moment in all its business due to the hard economic times. Selling less PS3s but at a higher price could help minimise Sony's expected losses in the next fiscal year. $50 price cut would make little impact whatsoever in terms of console sales but may stop PS3 sales from decreasing YOY over the Xmas sales period.
Having said all that above I recommend that gamers wait for PS3 to drop in price before buying it. You would regret paying $400 for PS3 is the next day it was announced PS3 price is dropped down to $300 as of today onwards.
I personally will wait at least two years for a new PS3 console to drop to $200, at that price a Blu-Ray and some PS3 exclusives may be worth considering.
