Agree with Squilliam, Office 2007 is brilliant once you get used to which tab the regular functions you use are now on. The docx format will take off once more people upgrade to 2007 over the next 2-3 years and it definitely makes more sense to change the standard format to XML based documents now that everything is moving to web based portals for document management.
