I've been into PC and console gaming for almost 16 years,

I have a very high spec PC (quad core, 4gb ram, 8600GT etc) which plays the latest games on high settings but I still left PC gaming late last year and went with console gaming instead,

Not had one regret and am so glad I ditched pc gaming! consoles are for gaming, pc's aren't (imo), there is a reason the pc gaming market is declining year after year while the console market is breaking records every year!

Go figure.....

wow, what hole did you crawl from? PC is probably the fastest growing gaming platform! Just go take a look at the superior 2009 lineup of PC.

You are linking the PC retail market. I rest my case in proving your ignorance.

Sounds like your the one that crawled out of a hole! PC = superior 2009 games lineup my ass lmao.

And the fastest growing platform? links please....

2009 PC exclusive lineup: http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=55527&page=1

http://www.dfcint.com/wp/?p=206

- Over 260 millions online PC gamers

- PC gaming the biggest in terms of revenue in 2007, with around 30% of the global entertainment software revenue

- predicted 80% growth by 2012

- predicted over 350 millions online PC gamers by 2012

See above. You don't need to thank me for giving some actual info about PC gaming's state.

So if PC gaming did good in 2007, but bad in 2008, and is ridden with Piracy as said in Stan's post, that means it is in a good state?

PC Game Sales Plunge in 2008; Consoles Soar

How does that somehow show the PC game market growing???  Seems to say the opposite.  And if you think that it just means all PC gamers are pirating these days, well that's another reason why PC gaming and retail sales are declining... without developers willing to deal with piracy, where do the games and then gamers go?  Away from the PC.

every year the Pc market is losing sales because MS and Sony gain more casual and Pc gamers. MS is leaving the Pc market, but doesn`t make it official...they will make you play exclusive Pc games on Windows and not Apple and they will be very happy. The developers and publishers will not be happy with rising Pc piracy and decresing Pc players that actually buy games.

You told me to see abovefor a look into PC Gaming's state, and that is what I saw directly inside what you quoted.  Looks like it is dying due to piracy and lack of sales... Hmmm.... fool.

ugghh, you really are ignorant.

PC Gaming is on a transition period - PC gamers are switching from retail to digital! This trend has been happening for years. In 2007, only 30% of PC's revenue was from retail... today that difference should be even bigger. And the most emerging gaming markets are PC-centric: Russia, China, South Korea, India, Eastern European Countries, etc...

Is it that hard to understand? It's funny you quote NPD figures, because an NPD spokesman has said that the retail numbers of PC tells nothing, and that PC is switching from Retail to Digital (I'm not bothering finding the source).

@shio - I did provided you with my links...and it`s an ESTIMATED growth,not a real one. In 2007 - 910 million $...in 2008 - 700 million $...a 25% decline in Pc sales...I just wait for 2009.

And trust me,WOW has made tons of money, about 50% of those Pc software sales. And will only get worse for the Pc,now that MS is not interested anymore in making Pc games. You don`t see the big picture, but MS does. They packed up and left Pc gaming. Is it because they were making money? No,they were losing money. When the 360 reaches a specific number,it will be cheaper for MS to secure an exclusive game. And the Pc gaming will just stick to Wow/subscription based games and casual games like Sims and others.

Open your eyes...you just have to try.

In 2007, WoW made "only" 10% of PC's total revenue.

The reason Microsoft is closing PC developing teams is because of their main objective, which is not PC. They needed to cut costs in the division, and so their "only" choice was to close down the PC teams, since the rest are working on Microsoft's own platforms (Xbox 360).
