I don't think something like that would make him like that. It wouldn't need to be an instant thing, but perhaps be similar to the sandvich where you would lose your control while the spy douses himself, it would take a few seconds to do, and it could make a noise that can alert others.

Since a spy's chances of survival are low if he gets flamed while undercover, there probably wouldn't be a chance to use something like that anyway. Still, it was merely a funny thought at a frustrating occurance.
