1280x720 is 720p resolution - thats what you get with XBOX most of the time. You just said that is what onboard is capable of with a PC on medium settings. Thats making my point.

But the 360 is capable of 1920x1080, that's 1080p resolution.  Onboard graphics are not capable of such a task when gaming.  Also, medium settings is no where near the quality when compared to Xbox 360's detail.  The Xbox 360 in comparison is like Max/High/Ultimate settings when compared to the medium settings onboard graphics can muster.  Also, that is only with certain games and certain onboard chips.  Older onboard chips like the 7100 and 6150 would struggle with medium settings on any new game, and probably wouldn't even make it to medium settings for a game like Crysis.

That's making my point.
