It doesn't have to be more than one dev. to be serious. It has to start somewhere. These past holiday numbers were a HUGE sign to developers. Usually they don't make their Holiday season reaction announcements until the second month of the year. Consider this the first of a few key drop outs. The biggest consequence of this announcement, though, isn't that it's just a sign that developers are naturally reacting to the Holiday sales, but that this will give a lot of developers the courage to do the same. So while we should expect some to stop supporting as much, its the downward spiral that these type of announcements can have. The question is, how far will it go before next fall rolls around?
I'm not saying that Sony hasn't sold a solid amount of PS3s, but that global recession is strongly hitting PS3 numbers compared to the other consoles. Also, its hitting the dev's pocket books. Add in that PS3 is a bit harder to develop for, takes a lot of resources, there is another console that is a cash cow for a lot of low budget games, and developers tendancy to jump ship on the 3rd console, then this sort of thing shouldn't be surprising.
