How many X360 owners actually bought the console at $400 vs. PS3 owners that purchased their systems at $400, $500 or even $600?
I bought my X360 on launch day. I waited outside in 40*F weather with my brother.

So we could buy 2, sell 1, and get 'our' 360 for a mere $150. I never have argued the $400 was a great pricepoint. MS did the smart thing by launching with the Core at $300 (a move Sony copied, BTW) for users that couldn't afford the insane pricetag.
Launching a system above $300 is just plain stupid. That's why MS got owned by the PS2 in 2005 and 2006. Why is it that the X360 has surged in sales once it reached a gasp! Reasonable price? Because common sense rules the day for some. Which is another reason why the Wii has decimated the competition. It's 'premium' model cost $250 to the 360's $400 and the PS3's $600. That's a huge friggin' gap, my friends.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
