Yeah right. How would that make any ounce of sense whatsoever? Also if M$ had all that money to give to charity, why are people getting laid off?

Microsoft couldnt afford Sony... like they cant afford Yahoo without a loan.

Microsoft was paying Yahoo more than it was worth (in cash should the stockholders pick it over MS stock.) Yahoo refused the buyout because they had a deal with Google in the works. The government didn't allow the deal and MS lost all interest in Yahoo. If Microsoft wanted, they could have purchased Yahoo. Had the deal been approved, Microsoft would have brought out even more of its assets. When you combine Microsoft's cash reserves with stock options, Microsoft could afford to buy and sell Sony.
