| Lost tears of Kain said: First off, with genuine jrpgs 360 wins hands down, i dont know how you got it in your mind wii won, but i wont go into that. The other two i agree, because wrpg yes 360 no doubt, and the second one is your opinion and i cant argue that. Now on to everything else, Blue dragon is not a bad game it is a very classic jrpg which alot of people have liked (what 8 or so reviews in 9+?) and a few really low scores (5 or so below 6?) which has brough down the average, in all the game seems to be a 7-8.5 game which is a good game to a great game. Its generated hype because not many have been seen on 360, and its quite a fun game, i had fun with the demo. While it was made very fast to boost the 360 its still not a bad game and is ABOVE average. Your opinion is excepted, but you have barely played the game, let alone played the entire game and thats what makes jrpgs so fun. I have not played fire emblem, so guess what i wont criticize it for the gameplay ive seen, and to me seems to much like the original, but hey i dont know havent played it. Again, have you played eternal sonota? im guessing no because its not out, so again stop judging it. And i have no clue why you say alot havent 100k on a 400k console is huge sales, so i dont know wtf your talking about. In jrpg sorry but 360 wins, they are true and genuine rpgs, i wouldnt say hands down because its a matter of opinion, but to say wii wins hands down is just.... i dont know whats the right word. Just blue dragon and eternal sonota win in True jrpgs, add in Lost Odyssey and its almost a true hands down In my opinion, Lost odyssey=greater then all, but hey its my opinion, and we wont know till we play LO and the rest Again this does come to matters of opinions but dont bring things down which you HAVE NOT PLAYED |
That makes 2 JRPG for XB360 and 3 for Wii. What were you saying again?
Or perhaps you were counting the MMO as JRPG? If you think that, then I know you're delusional.
And if you don't understand why the Wii won, try to realize that the OP talked about RPG to be released this fall in NA.
Which is a pretty limited view of RPG. Realize that JRPG were of a particularly high importance for the XB360 to win Japan, and that didn't happen
Not because Blue Dragon is bad, because it's not. Like I said, it's above average, but barely. And yes, it's true I didn't play it in full, and thank god for that, because I have this feeling with RPG, knowing in less than 1 hour of play if I will like them or not (or if they're awesome), and my meter was not broken, as I've seen in the event in France where Sakaguchi was invited, where I could play some of it and see some advanced part of it. It just confirmed my first impressions.
Eternal Sonata is another matter, and like I said, I would play that, and I would even have bought a XB360 (used) for it, if there weren't a lot of other JRPG coming on other platforms.
And sorry to tell you that, but be it on 120M or on 400k consoles, 100k or 200k sales of a game are nothing huge, at all. By the hype it had, BD should have sold 1M units in Japan alone. I thought at first that it was because there were not a lot of XB360 that it sold poorly (related to its level of hype), but this game pushed at least 100k XB360 in Japan.
There's also a tendency to treat what Mistwalker does as a sure hit. They just showed it's not. Seems like Sakaguchi and Uematsu can't outdo Horii and Sugiyama. I don't even understand why they tried, but it doesn't bode well for the small studio. Now, they will do what they know best in Lost Odyssey, so it will be the real test.
But don't bring 2008 games like Last Odyssey in this discussion, as it's dangerous for your point, because then you start to align strong JRPG franchises against it, like Dragon Quest or Tales Of. And from there it's the end on the JRPG front, with big ones being announced again today for the Wii in Japan, it seems like the Wii will leave the two others behind. And I thought PS3 would get the lion's share of JRPG.
But don't panic, for RPG overall, and especially WRPG, XB360 is still king.
But as a self-respecting JRPG fan, sorry to tell you that the XB360 appears more and more as the worst console of this gen to buy. Not yet this fall in NA as PS3 is still behind, but it will be more apparent next year. All this while keeping in mind that the XB360 is 1 year older.
