Pretty much what I would expect from a console released with no competition a year beforehand.

Many of the lower-quality games are early releases, it seems (where just about every title was an exclusive). That makes sense, IMO.  Graphs showing quality and quantity of releases over time would be very cool  (say a "release" lasts for 1 full year, and the graph shows the sum of exclusives that are "shelf worthy" at any one time).

No competition? It had serious competition from the PS2. Furthermore the reason why the PS3 is picking up good games at a faster rate is largely due to the fact that the Xbox 360 paved the way for these multi-platform games before it was released.

If we're including the PS2, and re-doing the list as "Sony exclusives" rather than PS3 exclusives (which lack a years worth of competition with the 360)... that'd kinda be an uninteresting list, don't you think?  2005/2006 were great years for the PS2.

Im not including the PS2... All im saying is that the Xbox 360 established the HD userbase early. If it wasn't as large or the PS3/360 launched at the same time then the rates would be different. The PS3 launched into different market conditions to the Xbox 360 in a large part due to the sales the Xbox 360 had managed to eek together in that first year. Remember the reliability and supply issues? It was a terrible year.
