Yes, but how much more HD can you get than HD? Maybe newer consoles can have more shit onscreen, etc., but at least PS3 games won't look objectively ugly in 2010 the way too many Wii games do now. Plus, if Wii games are good enough for the masses now, cheap PS3 games on a cheap PS3 will be better than good enough then.

 

While it has become clear that graphics are not the main selling feature of a console, and people would probably be entirely pleased with PS3 level graphics in 3 or 4 years, the PS3 lacks the main selling feature that people were looking for in this generation which only hurts it more and more as time goes on ...

Beyond that, the PS3's graphics may be good but as developers start having access to hardware that is capable of playing a game like Crysis at above 1080p, at ultra-high detail at a framerate above 120fps the PS3's graphics (in particular "Realistic" games) will start to look more and more primitive.
